About the Job

Project Management/Inside Sales (HVAC)
GPA Inc., L3R 4S1

The job market can be fierce when you’re a recent graduate. It’s the paradox of starting your career: everyone wants experience, yet no one seems willing to give you any experience.

At GPA we recognize the value on bringing in fresh talent and giving you all the tools to succeed. Many of us started our careers with little more than just our diploma in hand and were fortunate to find companies that gave us amazing learning opportunities. Now we’re passing it on: a limitless supply of learning, and an opportunity to kick-start your career.

We’re a growing company - in the past few years, we’ve doubled in size. This steady growth means you’ll be set up to succeed and develop, with real confidence in your job security. It also means that you’ll be able to grow into new roles with us. You can write the path of your own career. For those that may be interested in Sales, this position is how many successful Sales Engineers started.

We’re looking for an eager new engineering graduate to join our team, and we hope that person is you.

About GPA

GPA is a manufacturer’s representative, which means we provide technical advice, equipment selections, and system integration for the wide range of heating and air conditioning products that we sell.

GPA was built by developing lifelong relationships using strong engineering/HVAC knowledge and providing exceptional service to consulting engineers and mechanical contractors. This exceptional service results from our commitment to honesty, integrity, attention to detail, and superior response time.

Successful manufacturer’s representatives also require great products, and GPA Inc. has developed strong, long term relationships with top manufacturers in the HVAC business including Evapco, Multistack, LG VRF, Stulz, Swegon and Climatemaster.

Today, GPA has expanded the product offering, opened a warehouse, added a London branch, and started GPA Factory Service Inc., a new division providing start up and maintenance capabilities for the products we represent.

The Position

We’re seeking a professional with an engineering degree, preferably mechanical, for an entry level position. Your primary goal in this role will be to make our Company look good. Sometimes you’ll feel like a project manager, and others a consulting engineer.

A typical day for you will look a lot like this: the Company receives a bid and you jump into action, participating in the design, selection, costing and pricing of projects, followed by project management of successful bids. You’ll learn about all facets of the HVAC and construction industries - from design and supply through to successful start-up and commissioning.

You will be part of a young and energetic team of Professional Engineers and graduate engineers, all eager to assist you in learning the ropes. The type of work you will be doing qualifies as engineering experience as required for a Professional Engineers designation.

You’ll succeed here if you are:

  • Positive – you see problems as challenges to overcome, and lessons to learn.

  • Sociable – you enjoy working with others

  • Decisive – you can move quickly and with confidence in complex environments.

  • Independent – you work well on your own and manage your time well.

  • Detail-oriented – you understand that small things are really big things.

  • Analytical – you process information at a high level

This is a position for someone who is keen to learn as much as they can and eager to prove them self; the type of person who does more than the required reading; someone who asks lots of questions and not afraid to speak up.

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical

  • HVAC experience an asset

  • Previous experience in a sales or customer-facing role an asset

  • Travel to job sites will be required, so a valid driver's license is a necessity.

  • Ability to travel in the USA and Canada for training at various manufacturing facilities

This full time position is located in our Markham office, reporting to the sales manager. Salary for this role is between $55,000 and $65,000 commensurate with experience, with flexibility for exceptionally qualified applicants. On top of salary, compensation also includes paid vacation, and an attractive benefits package.
