As our new Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the timely development and implementation of our capital expenditure program, as well as to provide technical support to the operations group through trouble shooting and optimization initiatives. 

Exceptional problem solving and organization will be essential. You have a strong analytical mind and superior trouble-shooting skills, and are not afraid to get creative when looking for solutions to improve our processes. No matter what the issue is, you’ll balance priorities, capacities, and quality seamlessly. 

You’ll also be a hands-on engineer who can make an impact with personnel and processes alike. You generate exceptional plans, communicate them thoroughly, and execute at every level. 

Practically speaking, some of your responsibilities will include:  

  • Co-ordinate, develop, and implement facility and capital improvement projects and permits with minimal supervision / direction

  • Supervise / co-ordinate projects including detailed project scopes, equipment procurement, development of bid documentation and contractor selection, cost control implementation, commissioning, start-up and training for users

  •  Lead, co-ordinate, and direct multiple projects to meet objectives related to; new machinery / controls or enhancements to existing equipment

  • Meet internal customer performance requirements and specifications, deliver on-time and on cost

  • Determine operational needs and develop overall projects scope of work, including analysis of capacities, layout design, equipment specifications, installation strategies, cost estimates for best results

  • Participate in capital planning programs and processes

  • Co-ordinate the OQ, IQ, and PQ of new equipment

  • Provide training for new equipment for transfer to user department

  • Post-secondary degree in chemical or mechanical engineering

  • 5 years of related experience, preferably in the cosmetics and/or pharmaceutical industry

  • P. Eng designation, or in process of acquiring the designation

  • Experience managing and implementing multiple capital projects, permits and engineering activities

  • Experience with customized manufacturing equipment

  • Experience in handling equipment assembly drawings, system layout drawings, electrical drawings, and AutoCAD software
