Career Opportunity:  MANAGER, STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES

Want to work in an exciting environment with some of the most talented people in Canada?  Join our team and connect with your potential.

Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) is Canada’s largest and most diversified port, stretching along 600 kilometres of shoreline and waterways and bordering on 16 municipalities.  The port plays a vital role in importing and exporting products our communities use everyday, annually trading $75 billion in goods with more than 130 trading economies.

As one of two managers reporting to the Director of Environmental Programs, you will be responsible for developing and managing environmental initiatives that focus on sustainable strategies in support of our medium and long term organizational plans.  The highlights of this role will be to:

·       Assess the long term environmental challenges facing our port and identify opportunities and solutions.

·       Develop and update our Strategic Environmental Plan in line with the PMV 2050 Plan and in consultation with customers, tenants, regulatory agencies, First Nations, municipalities and the community.

·       Oversee the development of PMV’s Environmental Management System.

·       Manage a small but highly motivated and talented team. Ensure performance goals are clear, measurable and accountable; and provide support for their development needs.

As the ideal candidate, you have a graduate degree and related experience in sustainability or environmental management, along with formal education or experience in commerce or business administration.  Your outstanding leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and communication capabilities are coupled with a strong preference and demonstrated capability to work in a team.  You are a strategic thinker with the ability to foster the development of others.

Port Metro Vancouver offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including an Earned Time Off program.
