Shell is currently seeking a Field Engineer - Mining* to work at the Fort McMurray Albian Sands mining project.
Responsibilities:
The primary function of the Field Engineer is to ensure that the short-range mine plan is implemented in the field. The roles responsibilities include coordinating pit development, waste dumps and tailings dyke construction. Incumbent must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and have excellent communication skills to be able to both communicate and facilitate the implementation of the daily plans.
This position reports to the Field Services Team Lead within the Mine Engineering Department.
Principal accountabilities include:
Coordination and communication of mine plan activities (open pit, tailings and waste dumps)
Development of execution and optimization strategies from the weekly plans.
Waste dump structure daily planning and design
Coordination of field control for site services
Design of short and long term haul truck accesses
Assist Resource Geologist in assuring waste contacts are followed and optimum type material is captured.
Input to the Senior Short Range Engineers on development of mine plans
Granular supply survey and some coordination
Accountable for the as-build of the dyke and dump structures
Other mining related projects
Incumbent had no direct reports but will be responsible for assigning work tasks to the survey crew as required.
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than current employer
No "fly in, fly out" option is offered with this position. Relocation to Fort McMurray is required
B.Science, Mining, Civil Engineering, Geology
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
Previous open pit shovel truck experience
Individual must be comfortable working in a multitask environment
Must be able to work well with operations personnel in order to achieve objectives
Must be prepared to occasionally work in harsh environmental conditions
Proficiency in MS Office suite of products
Experience with modular dispatch
Experience with mine moduling an asset
