About the Job

If you are an experienced bus or truck mechanic that is looking to constantly grow your skills by solving an evolving variety of interesting technical challenges, then we might just have the perfect job for you.

The mechanics at MTB Transit Solutions like to think of our shop as one of the best kept secrets in the GTA. We’ve been doing bus repair and maintenance for 45 years, and have dramatically expanded our operation to include bus & coach refurbishment.

We’re now a fast-growing market leader that operates out of a massive 100,000 square feet facility in Milton. We’ve got 62 bays of the most specialized body repair, paint, and refurbishment equipment around, and we have touched nearly 3,000 buses to date – the most in Canada.

About the Job:

Our mechanics say the best thing about MTB is the variety. We do regular maintenance for entire fleets, plus fire, collision & repair, and major refurbishments that strip buses down and rebuild everything to increase their lifespan.

Depending on what your strengths and interests are, you’ll get to work in the areas you want, from electrical & electronics, HVAC, to diagnostics, drive train, and hybrid upgrades. Together with our experienced Mechanic Supervisor, you will discuss the scope and direction of each assignment, and then you’re on your own to work at your own pace and solve problems in the ways you see fit.

This role also includes inspection of equipment & mechanical assessments, repairs & maintenance activities, and some facility & equipment upkeep. It does not include doing a lot of paperwork or computer admin, we have non-technical people managing that stuff.

Need to Have:

  • Legally able to work in Canada; Fluent in English

  • At least 3 years of experience as either a truck or (ideally) bus mechanic

Nice to Have:

  • 310T or 310J certified technician

  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance best practices

  • Experience completing MTO inspections and documenting deficiencies

  • Experience troubleshooting various problems with diagnostic equipment

  • Experience in electrical / electronics, reading schematics and understanding hybrid systems

  • Experience doing diagnostics and repair of air conditioning systems

This is a full-time, permanent position with a starting range usually between $23 - $35/hr, depending on the amount and types of specialized experience you have with trucks & buses. If you are unlicensed and have minimal experience, but you learn fast and do great work, your income will rise quickly.

Working at MTB:
